Foundation Stone for Surajgad Ispat Pvt Ltd Steel Project to be Laid in Gadchiroli on 17th July 2024
In a significant move towards Industrial Development in the Vidarbha region, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister & Home Minister- Devendra Fadnavis, is set to perform the Bhoomi Pujan for the steel project in Gadchiroli on July 17th. This ambitious project, valued at Rs. 10,000 crore, promises to provide employment to over 7,000 individuals, both directly and indirectly.
A Major Leap for Vidarbha's Industrial Growth
The Surajgad Ispat Pvt. Ltd. project represents a landmark investment in Maharashtra’s industrial sector, aimed at boosting economic growth and providing substantial employment opportunities in the region.
Announced by Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the project has garnered significant attention for its potential to transform the industrial landscape of Gadchiroli- Maharashtra.
Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony
The groundbreaking ceremony for the steel plant was held on July 17, 2024.
The event will be graced by prominent dignitaries including Ajit Dada Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance and Planning Minister; Uday Samant, Cabinet Minister for Industries; and Dr. Dharmaraobaba Atram, Cabinet Minister for Food and Drugs Administration.
Numerous government officials are also expected to attend this momentous occasion.
Project Highlights and Vision
Sunil Joshi, President of Surajgad Ispat Pvt Ltd, stated, “Out of the 350 acres of land, 35 percent has been reserved for greenery.” The project will feature a township, temple, gym, and a helipad. The first phase is slated to commence by December 2025, with the entire project expected to be completed by 2027.
The steel complex will not only bring employment to the region but also provide comprehensive facilities including accommodation, food, hospitals, and education for experts relocating to Gadchiroli. The surrounding villages will benefit from improved infrastructure, including water, electricity, education, and medical facilities
A Vision for Gadchiroli's Future
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis envisions a well-developed Gadchiroli, with this steel plant playing a pivotal role. The project is seen as a major step forward for the Naxal-affected district, fostering economic development and enhancing employment opportunities.

Strategic Planning and Execution
The conceptualization of the Surajgad Ispat Pvt. Ltd. project began two years ago, with land acquisition taking 8 to 10 months. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed with the State Government Maharashtra in Davos, Switzerland, marking a significant step in the project’s journey.
